Valued Academy Customers,
Yesterday, the President and the Coronavirus taskforce announced that prevention measures and restrictions will likely be in place through April 30. Academy Sports + Outdoors has been determined an essential retailer by several CISA sector standards (food, including packaged food, beverages, pet supplies, feed, tools, shelter, severe weather preparedness, first aid, fishing/hunting goods for food production, critical infrastructure work products, firearms, first responder and law enforcement supply, etc.). Since COVID-19 impacts areas of our footprint differently, we are taking actions to ensure we comply with federal, state, county and city restrictions, as appropriate.
To support actions that combat the spread of the virus, we are implementing ways of serving our customers and operating that allow us to meet three goals:
As of today, almost all of our stores and all three of our DCs are open for business operations. Everywhere we are doing business, we have implemented CDC-recommended measures to prevent infection, including:
All of the people who are working in our stores are paid volunteers who want to serve their communities and customers during this pandemic. We ensure that they follow the CDC guidelines for hygiene and safety. We have provided our team members with sick time so they may take time off if they feel ill.
Academy Sports + Outdoors provides products that are essential to helping people not only during this pandemic, but with general health and safety of residences, persons, and pets.
Those products include first aid supplies, including first aid kits, trauma kits, clotting kits, snake bite kits and more; gloves in latex, rubber and suede; and food, water and nutrition products.
While COVID-19 is top of mind right now, it’s also Spring which means we are in peak severe weather season. We encourage customers to prepare with us.
We have always been proud of how we support first responders and customers as they prepare for and respond to severe weather, including tornados, hurricanes, high winds and flooding. Before and after weather events, we have learned to expect high demand for hardware, including various tools, batteries (auto and small home batteries), flashlights, generators, tires, ropes, shelters, grills, cooking fuel, and other items.
Additionally, we continue to support many of our communities and first responders with items they need for their duties for this and other emergencies in your area.
As a reminder, please be sure to protect your health, your family, and your community by:
Be safe and be well. Thank you again.
